Role Summary:
Quantum Signal AI (QSAI) is looking for an Applications Software Engineering Intern to help develop tooling and prototype software for the summer of 2026. This is a paid internship opportunity, offering valuable hands-on experience and eligibility for academic credit. Our applications range from specialized engineering tools to prototypes for advanced vehicle features that are used by engineers, researchers, and designers at Ford and QSAI. Projects can change quickly but you can expect to gain experience in the full software development lifecycle across a variety of technologies. A standout candidate will have experience in Linux, compiled languages (C++, C, etc.), and software projects outside of an academic setting. We value the ability to quickly learn new technology to meet changing requirements, so a desire to learn is important!

We are located in Saline, Michigan. This position is in-person to encourage a culture of collaboration and mentorship.

What You’ll Do:
- Work across the full Software Development Lifecycle, from design and implementation, to testing and release management
- Collaborate within varied project teams to develop tooling to improve engineering workflows
- Develop documentation for software, processes, and projects
- Tackle the challenges of learning, integrating, and leveraging a range of software tools and technologies as needed
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree-seeking program, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineer, or a related field
- Maintaining student status for the entire duration of the internship, including the academic term immediately following the internship
- Good working knowledge of computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms
- Proficiency developing software in a compiled language (C++, C, etc.)
- An ability to communicate effectively with teams of various disciplines
- Previous work/internship or club/hobby experience developing software
- Experience using scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Experience working in both Linux- and Windows-based environments
- Familiarity with version control software (Git, SVN, etc.)
- School or practical knowledge of web development, operating systems, databases, compilers, and other higher level computer science topics
