Role Summary: QSAI is looking for a Summer PCB Technician to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. We assemble and test various PCB assemblies, wiring harnesses, and associated components. In this role, you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary engineering team to assemble hardware, execute tests, troubleshoot basic issues, and suggest process improvements. Great candidates will be highly detail-oriented, able to work independently, and possess a strong willingness to learn. Location: Saline, Michigan (In-person). Our “historic schoolhouse” office supports hands-on collaboration, mentorship, and real-time problem solving. 

What You’ll Do (Essential Functions): 

  • Assemble and test PCB assemblies, which will involve utilizing a pick and place machine and executing basic electrical tests. 
  • Assemble and test wiring harnesses for various engineering projects. 
  • Document test results accurately and track PCB assemblies using standard office tools (e.g., Word, Excel). 
  • Carefully package finished PCB assemblies and harnesses for distribution, integration, or storage. 

What You’ll Bring (Minimum Requirements): 

  • High school diploma, active coursework, or equivalent practical experience in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related technical field. 
  • Relevant hands-on, academic, or hobbyist experience with electronics assembly, soldering, and basic testing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to solder SMT components, perform general soldering, crimping, and other fine motor skill electrical activities.  
  • Must be able to use basic electrical testing equipment such as a digital multimeter, oscilloscope, and power supply.  
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.  
  • A general understanding of electrical concepts with the ability to troubleshoot issues and work independently. 
  • Proficient with basic office tools (Word, Excel) to navigate documentation. 
  • Strong communication skills, a high level of detail orientation, and a genuine willingness and interest in learning within a highly integrated team environment. 
Physical & Environmental Demands: 
  • Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs. 
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) for extended periods while soldering, assembling, or testing. 
  • Ability to move about the office/lab/testing site to access equipment and collaborate. 
  • Excellent fine motor skills and visual acuity required for working with small, delicate SMT components. 

Bonus Points For (Preferred Qualifications): 

  • Experience with PCB design and software tools (KiCAD, Altium, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or similar document management systems.
